Marine traffic safety, as we know it today, could not be possible without different kinds of safety equipment onboard. Speaking about electronic equipment, we primarily mean GMDSS equipment but also other equipment used for accident avoidance, assistance in case of distress and data recording in case of accident. Shipowners are obligated not only to have all the neccessary safety equipment installed onboard, but also to keep that equipment well maintained and regularly tested. Testing and maintenance may only be performed by the companies that have the necessary authorization by the producers (where applicable), adequately trained service staff and the required testing equipment, for which they receive appropriate certificates from the relevant classification societies.

HORA Elektronik has been performing GMDSS Annual Surveys for many years, which also includes EPIRB Surveys, AIS Surveys and SSAS Surveys. Our service engineers acting as radio inspectors are specially trained to operate, service and test GMDSS equipment. On this basis our company is certified for GMDSS Surveys by all the world's most significant class societies: ABS, BV, CRS, DNV, LR, NK and RINA. We possess all the necessary testing instruments and equipment that are regularly calibrated, in order to be able to perform annual surveys in a responsible manner and guarantee for good condition of the tested equipment.

Finally, we are specifically approved by the maker FURUNO to perform Annual Performance Test of their VDR/S-VDR systems (VDR APT). Being a Furuno authorized service station for many years, Hora Elektronik has the necessary knowledge and experience in servicing and maintenance of Furuno VDR/S-VDR equipment. Therefore we are approved for Furuno VDR APT activities both by the maker and by all the significant class societies: ABS, BV, CRS, DNV, LR, NK and RINA.
